WHAT AFTER MODI SARKAR? ALTERNATIVES BEYOND NEHRUVIAN SOCIALISM & HINDUTVA NATIONALISM

This book is the first of the three books which come under the series POLITICAL PROPHESY. This book deals with the topic of ongoing political evolution in the Indian subcontinent, which, of course, has undeniable relations with its not yet fully discovered past and seemingly uncertain future. The second book in the series deals with the nature of an unavoidable socio-political upheaval that cannot fail to grapple the subcontinent in the not so distant future. The third book explores the emerging new facets of feudalism in what is presumably a digital age civilization with artificial intelligence and knowledge economy.

This book is not intended to sabotage or tarnish Modi Sarkar, in the sense that criticism does not mean any effort to sabotage or tarnish something. This book must be seen as a sincere enquiry of an honest citizen who thinks about the future of India.

On a very moderate scale the author of this book intents to look forward to the uncertain future of India. While looking forward into the uncertain future, no realistic person can afford to miss its historical development throughout the ages as well as the forces that prevail in its social and political realms at present.

The book begins with an introduction which fairly details the trajectory of political transformation that India has undergone after independence. The gradual evolution of Indian political discourse from Nehruvian socialism to Hindutva nationalism [or according to some Hindutva fascism] cannot be neglected while dealing with a subject that is trying to make sense of what course India will follow after the end of the Modi regime.

Various reforms and controversies of Modi Sarkar from the beginning of its existence from 2014 such as Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Jan Dhan Yojana, Make in India, Demonetization, Lockdown politics and Privatization are discussed with great interest to inform the readers about the impacts of these reforms. Mass movements of unprecedented levels as well as controversies such as NRC agitation and Farmers protest have given clear signals to surmise that the Indian psyche is willing to move towards a new phase of political discourse. The possibility of such a new political discourse is discussed in subsequent chapters from both historical and sociological perspective.

There is no doubt that the current dispensation under the bandwagon of Hindutva has totally discredited all ideas and values for which generations of Indians worked hard under the tutelage of European colonists as well as after the attainment of self-rule by the Indian state. The honest people of India as well as the international community as a whole remain aghast to see the retreat of India into the darkness of feudalism, religious fundamentalism and organized oppression by the ruling dispensation. But it is sure that a great civilization like India cannot be cowed down for a long time. From this view point this book is not only a prophesy but also a great hope that eagerly waits to welcome a New India in which a new ideological discourse will take our civilization to newer heights.

A major part of this book is employed to explore the possibility of a new political discourse that is likely to replace the ideology of Hindutva nationalism which will surely be crushed under its own weight sooner than later. Politics is always a matter of surprise. This book signals the possibility of such a surprise true to the standard of Indian civilization which in the past had produced an impressive array of magnificent philosophical systems, epoch-making social innovations and magnanimous leaders. It is sincerely expected that this book will give more insight to the reader about the ongoing political discourse in India. The book is available on Google Play.

EXODUS: FROM PARTITION TO PANDEMIC

Anyone who takes an impartial view of historical events cannot ever question the genuinity of suffering inflicted by the mass exodus during the partition of the subcontinent in 1947. Records variously mention about 10 to 12 million people as affected by the gruesome man-made tragedy in the recent history which was, however, unavoidable. Both India and Pakistan, in one way or another, washed their hands off the responsibility of the human tragedy, because there was a third player who could be held responsible for the cold-blooded acts of murder committed during the partition in 1947. After seven decades of this gruesome  man-made  tragedy. we are witnessing a mass exodus of the scale that cannot have a parallel in the recent history, save the exodus during partition. But, if we feign ignorance about it, or a section of media underplays it as irrelevant, or a section of the political  establishment bypasses it as a political conspiracy, it cannot stand to the tes...

SELF-RELIANT INDIA: PROS AND CONS

Self-reliance or to depend on oneself as an idea can become self-contradictory, if we do not shelve into the pros and cons of it, before eulogising it as a matter of policy. No doubt, self-reliance is one of the many factors that determine the status, dignity and respect of a nation among the family of nations-states in the world. A nation that is not self-reliant cannot partake in international relations as an equal partner. Under such situations an unequal trade deal can be imposed on a nation that by circumstances cannot afford to resist it due to lack of self sufficiency. BUY BOOKS OF TAACHAL ONLINE The proponents of self-reliance should also remember that this idea has not fallen on the Earth all on a sudden in the year 2020. India during its plan period generally and during the Fifth Five Year plan period particularly emphasized on self-reliance as a prime policy to ensure self respect to India. Under such an initiative. large scale industries were established to cure India of i...

CASTE OR RESERVATION! WHICH TO END FIRST?

Castes and caste-based reservations have assumed the properties of two contraposing and counteracting determinants of Indian Civil life since independence. In fact, castes and caste-based reservations are the life lines of two wide social sections which stand opposed to each other not only economically but also politically, socially, culturally and historically. Since they are counter-productive serious state builders and social scientists have always bothered about their influences in civil life. At this juncture certain serious questions stare at those who are serious about nation building. Is the caste system just a social divide? Or, is it the tip of a deep rooted institution of slavery? Is the reservation a step forward to dismantle the caste system? Or, is it an opportunistic compromise by the proponents of the caste system? The answers speak voluminously about our double standards in our social life as well as in our thought process. While we pretend that caste system ...
