There never was anything in the known history of the world a situation that is being confronted by humanity in the year 2020 AD. The disease named Covid-19 has not left unaffected anyone on the earth so much so that human movement was brought to a complete halt on almost all terrains on the earth; highly developed and confident medical systems on the earth were crippled by the shortage of personnel and supplies; the mass transport system of railway was brought to a complete halt for the first time ever since its inception; religious institutions and gatherings were brought under the control of man-made laws for the first time on the earth; and all the freedoms considered as fundamental to the existence of human beings on the earth were drastically curtailed without ever being questioned. What more to say? An unconscious virus has done what the technology has failed to do; what the most powerful leaders have failed to do; what the human revolutions have failed to do; what the powerful armies have failed to do.
The virus that has closed down economic avenues, curtailed political movements and prevented cultural gatherings is much more than a disease causing organism that we have so far come to acknowledge about it. The matter of the fact that the virus has hit its hardest blow on the wealthiest and most luxurious metropolis on the earth, provokes us to advance our thoughts towards a new direction. The matter of the fact that the virus unleashed one of its finest furies on those gullible people who have been bundled under the institutional invention of religion, prompts us to believe that time has come to think about the utility of various institutions that human beings have made for themselves.
No doubt the virus has raised serious questions about technological advancement, the idea of globalisation and international mobility. The virus has exposed the fact that in all countries generally and in low income countries particularly, it is only a miniscule proportion of the population that avails the benefits of globalisation and international mobility leaving the largest majority of the population as third class citizens who were negatively affected by the so-called global advancement. The virus has made amply clear that it is not the Suit Boot business that runs the nation but the farmers in villages and the labour on the street. In a country like India the shutting down of Suit Boot business has hardly left any impact on vast majority of population who live in villages.
On the whole, the virus has given an opportunity to citizens in the world and nations on the earth to scrutinize the way they conduct themselves. The virus has inflicted body blows on the assumption of man that the world is moving ahead because it is going in the right direction.
The world is crippled with man made disasters of population explosion, environmental decay and material disparity, to say few. In technical terms. a disease is a natural solution to the problem of population explosion. When man tries to fight the disease, in a way, he goes against the nature. There is a need for man to comply with the rules of the nature. If he is not ready to give his population to disease, he must be ready to reduce his population in his own ways. In the historical past there have been many diseases that have wiped out the population from many terrains on the earth. When man overcame these diseases by scientific advancement, he must have executed methods to control his population as well.
The proponents of globalisation, world mobility and multinational corporations are well aware of the fact that grinding poverty exists in solid terms on many trains on the earth. The co.existence of extreme wealth and extreme poverty is a willfully perpetrated sin. The individuals and states who feign ignorance of the coexistence of extreme riches and extreme poverty go against the nature because by nature no social system tolerates imbalance. It is the dictum of nature that individuals and states are bound to strive for balance in the social system. If individuals and states. by means of brute power or orchestrated deceit, deprive a huge majority of the population, they have to pay for their deeds.
The Great lockdown, as it is called, is a great opportunity for individuals and states to devise means and ways to up-bring a more responsible way of conduct in accordance with the rules of the nature. The need for the time is to bring up a dynamic and rational state where citizens profess a
responsible way of life and leaders take insightful decisions; where population growth is curtailed or promoted depending on the circumstances; where population movement is prevented or promoted according to situations.
It is the time to learn that freedom does not mean the absolute freedom to do anything. Freedom is always qualified by responsibilities and when we are unable to fulfill our responsibilities, we are bound to lose our freedom,
It is the time to remember that we have a right to earn wealth. but we have no right at all to neglect the existence of debilitating poverty around us.
It is the time to learn that backwardness and intellectual poverty are wilfully sustained by outdated ideas surviving from a world that is irrelevant to us today. Even if we protect it by calling it religion or cult or culture, the virus has given clear signal that it is not going to tolerate anything that is irrelevant to the collective wisdom of humanity today.
Seemingly, the unconscious virus brought such manifested changes in the world that the most powerful of the leaders, philosophers and Gods have failed to bring. This statement is something derogatory to the existence of man on the earth as a unique being. It also the fact that the virus has become more powerful than man because man has failed to listen to his inner voice. And after getting out of the Lock Down, if man fails to listen to in his inner voice, beware of the fact that yet again a new virus, more powerful, destructive and dangerous than the current one, will certainly resurface on the earth to remind man of his perfidy.

[Many of the ideas which are mentioned in this article are are taken from the philosophy volume of the book "The Making of the New Age" [Volume 1]. The new philosophy unveils a hitherto unheard strategy which, if adopted, can transform the world into a more secure, more peaceful and more beautiful place. The new philosophy envisages the society as a cumulative system of five dynamic social flows. The theory of social dynamics expounded in this philosophy is a clear advance from the traditional theories of social evolution prevalent among the contemporary academics.]
