The world has caught up with a new trend. Today,
people all over the world consume large amounts of junk literature. Just as
people are fond of junk food, people are fond of junk literature. Mostly junk
food is consumed by people for convenience and taste. But its high calorie
content, high fat content and in most cases high spice content open avenues to enter
a large number of diseases into our body. Many deficiency diseases,
cardio-vascular diseases, obesity and ulcers are common with those people who consume
large amounts of junk food.
Similarly, those who consume
large accounts of junk literature are likely to suffer many diseases.
Hopelessness, depression, violence and emotional outbreaks can be taken as the results
of consuming large amounts of junk literature. Unfortunately, many of the best
sellers today come under the category of junk literature. The authors and their
publishers promote them mindlessly for mere economic gains.
Though it is very difficult to
identify junk literature in the public domain, the following features can be
used to recognize them: 1) works displaying unusual fantasy, 2) works
stimulating erotic desires, 3) works lacking purpose other than entertainment,
and 4) works denying human reason and moral existence.
Beware
of junk literature! It cannot nourish our mind. It cannot uplift our moral
existence. It cannot lift our spirit and vigil our conscience. It is often for convenience
that people choose junk literature for reading. They come in attractive
packages and easy composition. They are easy to read and can be completed in
one sitting. But the after effects of reading them are as dangerous and as
numerous as the after effects of consuming junk food.
Most
of these bestselling junk literature works come in ‘use and throw’ module. The
authors and their publishers know very well that the value of them will come to
an end after the first reading. After that these books will end up in dust
bins. Hence, they limit the quality of such books to ‘use and throw’ module.
Beware
of junk literature. Man is the most precious creation in the universe. He is a
spiritual, moral and conscientious being. He needs nourishment for his mind on
an everyday basis. He needs more than junk literature to achieve this task.
Yaa, this is a big concern.
ReplyDeleteYes, this is absolutely true. The junk literature is as harmful as junk food.
